On March 28 at the Republican Library K. Bayalinov was hosted a presentation of the book “Sapiens. A Brief History of Humankind” for the school teachers. The book is a #1 international bestseller—that explores the ways in which biology and history have defined humans and enhanced their understanding of what it means to be “human”. The book was written by Prof. Yuval Noah Harari who is a historian and philosopher. His books have sold over 45 Million copies in 65 languages, and he is considered one of the world’s most influential public intellectuals today.
“There are almost no scientific books in Kyrgyz language. Sapiens as the world’s bestseller covers the history of Humankind. It gives information about the development of science, technologies and many other topics answering the questions of curious children. We sent books to libraries in all regions of the country with a total number of almost five thousand copies. The books could be used by the teachers at schools. Even in the most remote villages in the regions, there is the possibility of one copy of the book that is available also online on the educational website https://bilimbulagy.org,” – said Nellya Dzhamanbaeva, Executive Director of Capacity Building Foundation.
After the presentation of the book in Bishkek it will be presented to the teachers in the regions in Osh, Talas, Karakul and Naryn cities.
The Kyrgyz-translated book was published as part of the Book Translation program of the US Embassy in Kyrgyzstan.
